Fall in New York City
New York in November is a beautiful place. It´s a beautiful place year round, except in the middle of Summer or the coldest days of winter if you don´t like the snow. The hottest days of Summer can get very hot and muggy and the garbage in the streets can start to smell. The hottest days of Summer in New York can be smelly, muggy days and for that reason most people don´t stick around. Some travel to exotic places others visit relatives in different parts of the country. But Novembers in New York are usually nice.
I was in New York City last November and it was a nice trip. I visited the MoMA, Metropolitan and Guggenheim museums. I took a stroll down Wall Street where I went to the top of 1 WTC and then I went back uptown to catch a Broadway show among other things.
Walking around the city in between appointments can be a very good idea. That is where you will stumble on the unexpected places and even bump into someone you hadn´t seen in a while. Although the city is big it´s not as unusual as it sounds.
For those that like to shop there are sale signs everywhere. You don´t need to necessarily wait for Black Friday. It´s also warm enough to hang out with friends in the parks, like Central Park. So my point is to make sure and walk the city and don´t be afraid to take public transportation if you´re pressed for time. The subways may be noisy but they are the best way to go from uptown to downtown or vice versa.
The Guggenheim Museum is located in 89th Street and Fifth Ave. in Manhattan. It´s housed in Frank Lloyd Wright´s beautiful white building with a modern style where the inside spirals upward. So as you walk up you can see the paintings without ever feeling like you´ve changed rooms. This makes for a unique sightseeing experience. Also, the floor of the museum is slanted to keep water away from the art in the event of the roof leaking. This has never happened though. There are also small seismographs that measure any possible tremors that the building might suffer. I´m guessing that´s because the building itself is a work of art. Unfortunately, I could not take any pictures inside but the outside of the building says so much.
Their website has a lot of information on exhibits and hours: http://www.guggenheim.org/
